Water balloon pop with sunglasses. I like the bowtie! Setup / strobist; - Water balloon suspended in front of a black background material. - A home built popping rig is hidden behind the background material. - The rig fires a pin into the balloon and triggers the flashes using a Quaketronics flash trigger. - Two SB-800 flashes are used; one at 1:30 and one at 9 o'clock. Both are set to 1/8th power. - Glasses were set on the ballon before popping. - Some touch up in Picasa including light levels and tint color. I had to remove one piece of errant balloon remnant near the glasses.

High speed splash shot of a water balloon next to me. Setup / strobist - Water balloon suspended in front of a black background material. - A home built popping rig is hidden behind the background material. - The rig fires a pin into the balloon and triggers the flashes using a Quaketronics flash trigger. - Two SB-800 flashes are used; one at 1:30 and one at 9 o'clock. Both are set to 1/4th power. One is gelled blue, the other red. - I had to trigger this myself -- no assistant this time. Used a remote trigger for the camera, then fired the rig.

False_Containment
Had to try a shot with just my hand. It was tough to kneel and get a good angle on the shot. Strobist / setup: - Water balloon suspended in front of a black background material. - A home built popping rig is hidden behind the background material. - The rig fires a pin into the balloon and triggers the flashes using a Quaketronics flash trigger. - Two SB-800 flashes are used; one at 1:30 and one at 9 o'clock. Both are set to 1/4th power. - Flashes were gelled green and yellow. - I tried to kneel and hold my hand in front of the balloon....
